Congratulations to Dexter and Kenna Belling for earning Athletes of the month for June!

Since both of them have joined us late last year, they have really taken the steps to buy in to what we preach at Infernal, and are reaping some HUGE benefits from it. They rarely miss a day, and are always in a great mood and ready to tackle whatever is on the board, knowing they will be getting better. Both had amazing performances in the Open, RX’ing some workouts neither of them expected to RX, even setting some new PRs during the wods. Along with some massive and quick PRs In the strength category that keep coming on a weekly basis, they have learned some pretty challenging skills in the short time with us (dexter= Bar MU, Kenna=Kipping Pullups, just to name a couple). They have also dove head first into our Private Nutrition Group and both are experiencing some incredible results, inching closer everyday to their overall goals. Their energy in and out of the gym is off the charts, performance continues to peak and improve, while their recovery and sleep is top notch allowing them to recover and push hard every single day!

Dexter and Kenna, you two are a prime example of what Infernal is all about and we couldn’t be more excited that you are part of our family! Congrats on everything, and keep up the great work ☺

1) What were you doing before you came to CrossFit Infernal?
DEXTER: I worked as a backpacking guide in the Grand Canyon. As soon as I accepted a desk job I needed a new challenge
KENNA: I had no formal workout before Crossfit Infernal. Occasionally I would go hiking or rock climbing, but that was the extent of any physical activity.
2) What kind of animal would you describe yourself as during a WOD?
DEXTER: A cockroach because I might not look good all the time but I’m stubborn enough to survive almost anything. Haha
KENNA: Hmm, maybe like half golden retriever half wolf because I get along with everyone but I’ve discovered a side of me that is a little competitive (even if it’s only with myself).
3) What are your goals/future plans with CrossFit?
DEXTER: I love rock climbing and I have a recent itch to conquer big alpine summits. Crossfit is great training both physically and mentally for some peak summits I have in mind
KENNA: My goals and future plans with Crossfit would be to eventually be able to do every workout RX, as well as maybe start completing in small local events. No matter where we live, I would like to keep Crossfit apart of our daily lifestyle. I would also really like to get muscle ups!
4) What is your favorite/least favorite movement?
DEXTER: The Bar muscle up is my favorite movement even though I can just do one at a time right now. I think the assault bike is the most crewel device in Crossfit
KENNA: My favorite movement would probably be squats, power cleans, or pull-ups. My least favorite movement is probably wall balls (haha) or bench press.
5) Favorite Cheat Meal?
DEXTER: Well my new nutrition plan allows me to eat more junk food that I ever did before tracking my diet haha. Drinking a few beers would have to be my favorite form of cheating
KENNA: Hmmm…ice cream, pizza, chocolate…
6) What is some advice you would give someone new to CrossFit?
DEXTER: Be a cockroach! Pick all the workouts that should probably kill you.
When you are about three months in, check out the crossfit haters on YouTube it will have you laughing for hours.
KENNA: Stick with it!! Keep coming back and tackle your weak areas! I started literally from square one, so anyone can do it if they put their mind to it!
